Equipment used in steelworks has to be of the best quality. Abrasive resistant material…heat resistant material, these decisions are very important. Lots of improvements need to be done and considered to make equipment last longer in these tough environments.

Steel-mills utilize HARDLOCK® bearing nuts to stop loosening of joints for ever. But exactly why do nuts loosen in these environments? As you know, metal contracts and expands with heat, leading to a constantly moving environment. The bolt that fastens your joint will also contract and expand hence you have a load on your bolt which is constantly changing. The hot surfaces of the seating faces and the threads do not give the nut enough friction to hold on. The torsion on the nut is released and the nut loosens.
